  1. I don’t think this is all that shocking. He’s probably looking at the Bratt deal and what Debrincat is asking, Ducks are probably coming in closer to 6-7 AAV based on the idea he’s only had 2 productive seasons so far.
  2. Of course. I’m definitely pro pay the man, but I can see why they might be apart on salary so far. 2 years of production almost out of nowhere.
  3. First Terry thread I could find, but he filed for arbitration today.
  4. It doesn’t HAVE to be Debrincat. I would really like to see them make big move to commit to being good.
  5. Same, but I can understand not wanting to commit 8.7 million to him and whatever Ottawa is asking.
  6. Jeff Marek has it down to the Isles and Red wings for Debrincat, not sure if that means we’re out, surprising considering how intensely the ducks were reported less than a day ago.
  7. That’s what the offers were yeah. I’m not saying I totally agree he’s worth 8.7, just that it’s not far off based on the market. Based on raw numbers, he is much better than both Bratt and Fiala in that regard. I’d be happy if we could get him closer to 8 than 8.7 maybe 8.3-8.4, but I don’t think he’s wrong to ask for 8.7 based on what he’s done throughout his career compared to other guys getting around that number.
  8. Yeah, you’re not getting “extra value”, but it’s kind of what the value is. PLD got 8.5 - put up almost the exact same season as DeBrincat, Debrincat was considered to be disappointing. Not an exact comparison as PLD plays Center, but same age, same market. DeBrincat has 56 more goals and 71 more points in 16 more games than PLD. Both came into the NHL the same year. Jesper Bratt got 7.875 - 7 more points last season l, but has like 70 less goals in 60 some less games, both game into the league the same year. tons of context missing, can’t encapsulate it all, but I think 8-8.5 is market value, you’re probably not juicing it for extra value, but that’s what 70ish point 30 goal scorers are going for now.
  9. A 6/7 D who’s better than the worst player they had on the ice last year.
  10. I just flat out disagree with you about that he doesn’t get 10 I guess. A 40 goal scorer who is 26 on the open market with a recently bumped cap, I think he gets 10
  11. I’d be surprised if Killorn doesn’t at least get an A
  12. I think he can, he’s in his prime, he’s scored 28, 41, career low 18, 32, 41, 27. Ottawa was pretty disappointing and some of those were on the mediocre, old Blackhawks. I’m optimistic he’s a 30-40 goal guy. He’s only 25 and 8 years takes him right to the end of his prime pretty much. Under the hood, the ducks are a very enticing place to come to. Zegras, Terry, McTavish, Carlsson on the roster now, tons of cap flexibility. Top 3 prospect pool in the league with very imminent talent coming to the roster. With DeBrincat this team could sniff around the wildcard.
  13. My opinion is that Debrincat is going to get his money. I don’t mind being the team that gives it to him. Maybe it’s a bit high, but if he comes here and pots 30-40 goals for 8 years it’s probably worth it. I understand some hesitation. But Debrincat is very good
  14. “Gross exaggeration” “his ceiling is 500k less”
  15. If Debrincat scores 35-40 and is like a 70 pt guy then he gets it. Goals are valuable. And if you can pot 40, you get paid.
  16. Debrincat will easily got 10 million AAV next season if he hits the open market
  17. I’m not keen on losing a 40 goal scorer for 400-700k a year
  18. I don’t know about 14.5 more, but I think what Debrincat does better is worth more. Debrincat’s down year last year was more goals than Fiala has scored in a season except once. He’s scored 40 more goals in 38 less games. It’s never as easy as a direct comparison. Cap is projected to go up 10 million, which would make his cap less of a percentage of the total cap. I’m not sure if what 8.7 would be in total cap hit percentage. I would hope to be closer to 8.1 that Fiala is at than 8.7, but I still want Debrincat
  19. id pay him 8.7 no problem, but I’m jot the GM.
  20. What is Gibson or his agent going to say? Lol. ”yeah I want out, I’m not playing for them”, hockey players don’t do that. No one refuted him requesting a trade and him nor his agent made a statement after months of reports that Gibson requested a trade. Only when it was a report that made him look bad.
  21. I do wonder if were left simply because were one of the few teams that can extend Debrincat with little to no issue.
