  1. Exactly. So far the roster that is going to be iced is only marginally better then last year and now an AHL cosch used to only scoring two goals a game is leading the charge. None of Cronin's teams have been very offensively gifted. Add in the questionable signing of Stalock, which is a waste in my opinion. I'd rather after last year have giving the backup role to Dostal and let Alexander and Clang play in the AHL.
  2. His "I expected .500" quote with the roster he had built was a clear indincation he has no clue what he is doing. Mix in the draft interview where he didnt know how to answer any questions. The fact Zegras and Drysdale are still without contract, I'm not sure if Verbeek has a vision. The lets wait to see where we are in January with a new coach I can tell you, last place. The roster as is today is competing for nothing. We still have Leason floating around, hopefully waived. We still have Silfverberg, Vatrano, and Strome big contracts not very effective players, now Killorn who could be a great pickup or fall flat with a new team. A new coach who is used to playing low scoring hockey so the product might not be very entertaining. I dont know what Verbeek's vision is but I'm fully expecting a bottom 5 finish again. Lets look at the questionable waiver moves: Training camp - waived Mahura (played in Stanley Cup Final) picked up Leason. Who would have helped the team more? Leason or Mahura on a weak defense with the likes of Harrington, Beaulieu, Benoit, White playing. Quite frankly I would rather have Mahura over any of those 4. Picked up Megna but passed on Tulvainen. Tulvainen might be all offense, but someone on the team has to score goals. Was still an issue for the Ducks. Instead we have Megna playing who did nothing but waste a roster spot.
  3. His trades have been bad, his waiver pick ups have been bad and the majority of his free agent signings have been bad. Hiring a rookie GM to rebuild the team that knew nothing about being a GM was a disaster waiting to happen. Also his handling of his own assets has been horrible. Where's the Drysdale and Zegras signings? How come he didnt attach a pick to Klingberg to get a better return then a B prospect and 4th rd pick. We had three 2nd round picks we could have added to try to get more of a return. Better prospect and higher pick. His management has been questionable at best.
  4. Verbeek doesnt know how to use his cap space let alone how to make a trade. I knew this team was in trouble when he got hired.
  5. The Ducks dont need to sign or trade for an over priced over the hill defensemen. So far the current build is a slight improvement then last year. Hagg is no better then Beaulieau but we wont have Benoit, Shattenkirk, Beaulieu, and White on the ice at the same time. For those saying Verbeek signed Hagg so he has to play, well Verbeek also signed Beaulieu and White last year and they were in and out of the lineup with no guaranteed spot. As for the current group, I expect Helleson, Zellweger, Mintyukov, or even Noah Warren to crack spot this year. The whole the kids need to play in the AHL first is a joke. If they have the skills and tslent then why waste years in the AHL if they are ready to make the jump. Warren was a last minute camp cut last year and now has a contract. That 6'5 height would look awfully good on the back end. I expect to see Fowler, Drysdale, Lacombe, Gudas as our regulars and quite possibly two of the kids to make the jump and fill out the group which would not be the worst thing in the world. If the team is going to suck playing Hagg, White, Vaakaninen, or whatever other high priced no performance contract someone wants to dump, then play the kids and let them get the experience. If losing is too hard on them they can speak with the team counselors.
  6. So your leading goal scorer in back to back seasons and almost two back to back 30 goal seasons is worth a whole $3mil raise accordjng to Verbeek and pay nowhere close to other 30 goal scorers. Can we fire this guy already? And if this is a Samueli mandate, can they sell the team already. At this rate Terry is gone in UFA and Zegras will be right behind.
  7. Again, when was the last time the Samueli's let any Duck GM spend up to $4.4 mil to the max cap? We are going back to the Conference finals teams in the mid 2010's for that, and do you think with Tatar and Dumba that this team is going to be a conference final team? Didn't think so, so I can't see the Samueli's opening up the budget for the Ducks to max out on the cap when they are still far from competing. Ducks need to shed some terrible contracts first before they should be adding more: Silf, Henrique, Vatrano, Strome just to name a few, and Killorn (as much as I like the signing) might be going to that list depending on his performance.
  8. Posted in the Zegras thread. The headline is about the Bruins offer sheeting Zegras which they can't, but there are two twitter comments included in it that says they have checked in on Zegras and Mctavish, meaning the have called Verbeek and inquired about a trade for one of them. Basically makes my mind go to Bruins have called Verbeek about 2 of his best players and best centers because Verbeek is a weak GM and the Bruins think they might be able to fleece him again like they did with Lindholm.
  9. I don't agree with the offer sheet part, but it goes on further in the two twitter posts to say that the Bruins have inquired about both guys. You wouldn't inquire with Verbeek if you were going to submit an offer sheet. That would be inquiring about a trade. I think the offer sheet part is misleading where more the Bruins have checked in to see if they could make a trade for one of them.

  11. And that puts the Ducks very close to max on the cap. When was the last time the Samueli's let the internal budget be max cap. It's been a while and I can gurantee you it hasnt changed for this year. Ducks wont be max spenders. You really think they will be allowed to spend to the cap when they are looking at shaving Henrique and Gibson from payroll.?They will get their big RFA signed and that will put them above the floor and then they will be done. Guaranteed.
  12. Well if the rumors of Boston sniffing around on Zegras and McTavish are true and Verbeek ends up trading one to Boston, then Verbeek clearly needs to go. Those are two names that shouldnt even be mentioned in the rumor mill unless it is about their negotiations but here they are in trade rumors. I'm just hating the Verbeek hiring more every single day.
  13. There's a rumor I read this morning that Boston has inquired on Zegras and McTavish. If Verbeek were dumb enough to trade one of them then I hope Verbeek is included in the trade.
  14. Sorry to burst your bubble, Tarasenko, Tatar,Dumba are not coming to the Ducks. They are done with free agent additions. Even with LTIR for Silf and the 33.385 they would have Zegras (8), Terry (7), Drysdale (4) pretty much use it as that right there is 19 mil leaving 14mil. With the internal budget and how the Ducks never spend to the cap, they are spending a sniff for what Taresenko or Dumba want.
  15. If this is Verbeek's plan, then he falls right back in to being a horrible GM. You have a backup goalie in Dostal that you can play to give Gibson a break, if he is still on the team, and one that is your future starter. Why send him back to the AHL and bring in a guy like Martin Jones, Matt Murray, or any of the other older backup goalies that arent any good. We want to see the Ducks compete. Not bring in more bottom barrel players that are going to compete for last again.
  16. Both goalies were such later draft picks that neither one will be a NHL starter. Even backup is going to be a challenge.
  17. Wow, an Anaheim goalie tandem of Matt Murray and Eric Comrie. Playoffs here we come. Or I should rephrase that to, 32nd overall again here we come. And we thought last year was bad. If Verbeek trades Gibson and our starting goalie is Matt Murray, Eric Comrie, Martin Jones, Alex Stalock, or Halak we are in for a worst season then what we had to witness last year. Last place will not come down to last game of the year. If that's the plan, then the moment it is put into place Verbeek should be canned. If you trade Gibson, Dostal becomes number 1, simple. He's already a better option then any of the names listed above.
  18. LA Ducks of Anaheim. Would put them right behind the Kings in media coverage.
  19. What Anaheim media? They are all situated in LA and only care about teams with LA in the name. Lakers, Rams, Chargers, Clippers, Kings, Angels, then way down the list after all the high school teams are the Ducks.
  20. I dont believe so. However, he is only 18 and cant go to the AHL.
  21. That defense looks just as awful as last season. Need to get Hagg, White, and Vaaks out of there, or it will be another 40 plus shot nightly and last place finish.
  22. He is the worst GM, maybe 2nd worst GM in Ducks history. So far his roster moves should be a slight improvement with Killorn and Gudas. Hagg is just another Beaulieu and doesn't know how to play defense, so that was the typical Verbeek bottom barrel signing. GMPV does know that in order for Terry, Drysdale, Zegras, and Carlsson to be in the lineup they need contracts, right? I wouldn't be too shocked if he doesn't. There has been no news what so ever on the front of any of these players, other then Terry going to arbitration to wake up Verbeek.
  23. And thank god Domi has signed bow and it's not with the Ducks.
  24. Just waiting for the last move to drop. Reports are the Sens teying to get Debrincat moved today and last reports are saying the Ducks are very much in on him. Now Debrincat has been giving persmission to speak to teams to negotiate an extension. All of my Verbeek hate will be drastically turned around if he lands Gudas, Killorn, and Debrincat.
