I can honestly say so far Iike the additions of Gudas and Killorn this year much better then Strome and Vatrano last year.

Locker room issues are pretty obvious. 6 teams in 8 years and his longest tenure has been 2.5 years with his first team in Arizona. Then Mo treal for two years before being traded to Columbus who had him for a year and a half before dumping him at the deadline to Carolina who had zero interest in bringing him back. Signed with Chicago who dumped him the same year to Dallas and one of those teams may bring him back. The red flag is there. For a guy that young who puts up points and plays with grit to be bumped around as much as Mike Sillinger already then there is an issue. Hawks would bring him back. That organization is a joke. Remember they had Kane and Toews, kings of covering up scandals, involved around the youth last year.

I dont understand all the love for Max Domi. Not a superstar by any means and has already bounced around the league. Word is he is not a good character in the locker room. Not sure why a rebuilding team would want that around the youth.

Does not mean they will sign it. Guarantees that the Ducks keep the negotiation rights. No QO would have made them UFA. Some do sign their QO but Zegras, Terry, and Drysdale are worth more and they know it.

I'd like to see the team stay as far away as possible from Simon Benoit. He was absolute garbage last year.

Morgan Geekie wasnt qualifed in Seattle either. I'd go after him for a bottom 6 role.

Paying on of Soucy or Graves isnt bad. Lots of cap room and Ducks will need to hit the cap floor again. Why not grab a solid d and pay them instead of filler that will either be overpaid or we will have to sign multiple fillers like last year. Or let Minty and Zellweger get their feet wet on the third pairing against less high skilled players.

Jamie Drysdale would be a UFA if he does not receive a qualifying offer. This applies to him. A 10.2(c) player is a player that doesn’t meet the UFA requirements or the Group 2 RFA requirements. The player is only eligible to negotiate and sign a contract with the club that holds their signing rights. They are also ineligible for arbitration. If the player doesn’t receive a qualifying offer by June 25th at 5pm, they immediately become a UFA.

Honestly what I want Verbeek to do to improve the team, make some trade for a top end talent, Debricat level would be nice, of course he wont though. As for free agents, none. The free agent class is terrible. Leave them be. Maybe take a shot at Taresenko to fill out the top 6 but Foote and Bear, no thanks. Ducks have defensemen in the sustem I'd rather see fill out the team then bottom of the barrel scraps. If a defenseman is needed maybe Matt Dumba, Carson Soucy, or Ryan Graves. Graves is who I want. Then use your youth, Zellweger and Minty or even Warren. Maybe someone like Noah Aciarri to fill a bottom 6 role or Yamamoto if he signs cheap. If $2mil per then a hard pass.

Wheeler and Domi no. Domi is a problem in every locker room he is in. Dont need that here. Wheeler is closer to retirement then he is at being effective. Always injured. Dont need him either. Play our youth instead of wasting spots on these old has beens.

Somebody else gets it too. He wqs fleeced in the Lindholm and Rakell trades and could have easily got more for Klingberg if he tossed in one of those 3 2nd round picks. I would have easily offered up Klingberg and a 2nd if it got me an additional 1st this year. Waiving Josh Mahura, who went on to the cup final, and picking up Leason and Megna was a joke. Then passing on Tolvanen who was clearly better then anyone on the Ducks bottom 6 was a joke, with the excuse being he is too offensive. Guess what, Ducks need offensive players. Now probably moving Gibson for a grade C prospect and 3rd pick like Nesterenko and Henrique for not much will be even more questionable. Hiring Cronin as coach is questionable. I fear this is Eakins 2.0. No playoff success in his coaching career. He put a roster together last year that he literally said thought would have been competing for the playoffs. I could look at that roster and tell you they were going to be terrible. Then made a draft pick and couldnt answer any question he was asked about it. And worse yes Terry and Zegras are RFA, but Drysdale could end up being a UFA if he doesnt receive a qualifying offer by the end today. I have heard nothing on the Ducks extending the offer and I honestly think Verbeek has no clue about this. Dont be surprised if Drysdale is a UFA tomorrow and no longer a Duck. Verbeek was assistant GM to Yzerman in Detroit and under those two the Wings were constantly one of the worst teams. Funny how Verbeek left and they actually showed some improvement last year while the Ducks have been in a free fall since he joined them. Remember two seasons ago the Ducks got off to a good start, Murray stepped down, then Verbeek was hired and the free fall started. Coincidence?

And all he's done is traded away talented players and replaced them with bottom of the barrel garbage and expected better results. Heck where's the Drysdale, Zegras, Terry extensions. Not even being talked about. That's how bad he is. Guess if you like last place thats great. Its where the Ducks will be for years.

Wait a minute. In one post you say you love it and in the next you say it's disappointing. Which is it? I wouldnt want to wear a winking duck on my chest playing hockey. Definitely not buying one. Makes the wild wing jersey look good. Just put the web D in the original colors and call it a day.

The problem is we all want to see an improvement. Carlsson will be good but will likely be in Sweden next year so no immediate help there. Some of the talent available in trades and the Ducks arent even mentioned in any of them. Free agents only names they have been linked to are Lucic and Quick neither will help. A new coach is great but that coach's past cosching record is losing season after losing season. So far there is no help in sight and nothing to make the team better. Players are leaving and none want to come to Anaheim. The holes will be filled by more dumpster dive players like Beaulieu. Our GM just makes questionable move after questionable move. Do you see this team better with a goaltending dual of Dostal and Quick. I dont. I see that as a step down. Next season is looking like another write off.

If I were Zegras, Terry, or Drysdale I would hold out a year and resign next year to avoid wearing these catastrophes. They're supposed to skate around with a winking Duck on their chests against their opposition. That's not going to generate lots of trash talk. Seriously a freakin winking duck. Verbeek is the worst GM in the NHL. It is no coincidence he truned the Ducks into the worst team in the NHL but in his mind thought they would challenge for a playoff spot. The guy has never made a good trade and has lost every single trade he has made with one of his better assets moving out. Hired a coach who has only one winning coaching record in years of coaching, picks the third best player in a draft at two, cant speak clearly about it after, and is about to trade Gibson and start next year with a similar defense and rookie goalie and expect the team to be better. Sorry but if the Samueli's cared at all anymore he would be on the next plane out of town. Or maybe he thinks it is golf and lowest score wins? At least he is living up to that "little ball of hate" nickname. I hate having him as our GM.

Verbeek isnt going to pull off any trades for the guys available especially for a 5th or 6th round and have someone retain salary. That would mean he actually won a trade. Verbeek is only good at taking and giving what other GMs want. Verbeek has never won a trade so far and has only received significantly less value then he should have got for his players.

Carlsson will be good for the Ducks just not the ideal pick. If Im deciding between two guys and the comparables are MacKinnon and Backstrom, Im sorry Im more excited for the kid compared to MacKinnon. Carlsson will still be good, but wont be a huge point producer, just a solid two way player.
