Exactly, we have nothing to trade, unless their names are Henrique or Gibson but they are not bringing back any key players, just picks for next year or a prospect like Nesterenko, who if we had a decent roster would have a hard time cracking the lineup.

So here's a question, why would Columbus swap picks and give up a draft pick to Anaheim if Anaheim wanted to move down to 3? That's basically telling Columbus they arent picking Fantilli. So Columbus is going to give up an asset to move ip one spot to pick Fantilli when yhey know they can stay where they are and pick the same player? Eould be a bad move on Columbus part if they made any kind of trade.

Well it's draft day and the consensus #2 is Adam Fantilli. Ducks need a big franchise #1 center and Fantilli is that player. Move Zegras to wing where his skills and size make him better for and make the proper selection. If Verbeek screws up this #2 pick, then he should be fired immediately. So far I have not seen him do anything to improve the worst team in the NHL from last year and the rumors are just making the team worse. Sign Lucic for two years, trade Gibson. Coach is still hard to call, but he did hire a rookie coach who has only had one winning season in his entire career as a coach. He better not take the risk on Michkov unless he knows that he is not going back to the US. From what I've read Anaheim wasnt even on Michkov's list of teams to interview with, so that should rule him out. The pick should be Fantilli or it is another questionable move in a long list of them for Verbeek. I know he was assistant GM in Detroit from 2019 until the Ducks hired him and how many successful seasons has Detroit had since then? I don't trust Verbeek as a GM and see this franchise is going to be in big trouble really fast. Yes the Ducks were starting to fall from grace with Murray at the helm, but since Verbeek took over they fell to the bottom of the barrel and worst defensive team in history (though Verbeek thought they would have been above .500). His trades have been questionable and I feel as if he should have been able to get more value for what he gave up and free agent signings even more questionable. Gibson will get traded for a 6th round pick likely and Agozzino will be the big pick up this off season, another retread that wasn't great before when he was here. Lucic will get some 3 year contract that pays 5 mil per and be an absolute waste of a roster spot and money. By the time Verbeek gets fired or the Samueli's sell the team, fan interest will be at an all time low, Verbeek will get fired, losing seasons will continue, Samueli's will sell, and Ducks will relocate. I feel the Verbeek hiring was just the beginning of the end. And where is the extensions for our young stars, Zegras, Terry, Drysdale? Dont even see anything being discussed on them.

Pass. You dont need goins in the league anymore and Licic does absolutely nothing these days but waste a roster spot for a much more talented player. If Lucic could play defense with speed sure but he is a slow oof now. If the Ducks want to waste a roster spot on Milan Lucic, an old, slow, broken down form of his old self, for two years, then they might as well bring back Corey Perry instead. At this point in time, another last place finish. We havent had the draft or free agency so who knows what players are coming in. So far with who is under contract, I dont have high expectations.

So if Carlsson has a better WC than Fantilli you pick Carlsson, also a center? Your argument about having the top 2 centers already doesn't work with Carlsson over Fantilli as both are centers. Then you say it would have been easier to draft first, Bedard, also a center. So you still don't have the winger. Anyways, I see Zegras having more success in this league as a top line winger. Draft Fantilli who has size, speed, scoring, and is a physical presence, basically a true #1 center, which the Ducks dont have. I see two guys on the roster in Zegras and McTavish that can play center, but if Fantilli is a better center then them, then move one to wing. Can you imagine Fantilli centering the top line with Zegras on the left wing and Terry on the right. Could easily be the second coming of Kariya-Rucchin-Selanne.

And with all rhe samctions on his country from the Western world right now, why would Putin want to help billionaire owners make money in the States? You say that yet the rumor coming out is that his father's murder is related to him coming to the NHL. So you say it doesnt happen but it does. And what about the few prospects that have been forced back to Russia for military duty.

The more I read on Michkov vs Fantelli the more it is easier to make the Fantelli selection. Last report I read is that Fantilli is projected to be an elite #1 center, something this team doesnt have yet. The also ranked risk and reward, Fantelli was a 1 for risk with 5 for reward and Michkov was a 4 for risk and 5 for reward. The report stated Fantelli's skating was better then Bedard and any other draft he is easily number 1. He is the consensus #2 and elsewhere it listed the top 5 NHL ready prospects and Fantilli ranked #1. This is a guy that can step in immediately and help this team in areas of need. I dont think Verbeek has much thinking to do as it was more of a statement every GM makes at this time. Not like you're going to interview him now and he is going to say we are drafting Fantilli.

No. Fantilli is still the better player overall. Do you want a guy with a good shot but does nothing defensively or physical, or do you want a guy with an above average shot, plays physical and plays in his own zone. Fantilli is the Hobey Baker winner, like Kariya was, and put up 65 points in 35 games in the NCAA this year, which is unheard of, almost 2 ppg. Michkov had 20 points in 30 KHL games, less then a point per game. Again, I would rather have the guy that plays a complete game vs a one dimensional player that may never come over. And now there is a rumor out there that his dad's death is related to him playing in the NHL, to me big red flag and drops his stock even more.

And then the Ducks call him up and have wasted 15 games of year one on his ELC. Probably not going to happen. They already wasted years one on Zegras and Drysdale and fully regret it.

Not quite. The lines people are posting with Jones/Nesterenko in a top 6 role are awful. Those guys are bottom 6 role players at best and should not nowhere near the top 6. Then there are the ines with Fantilli as a third line center. Sorry you dont draft a player like him to play a 3rd line Dehydrated Donkey Dung down role. Crosby didnt start on the 3rd line and his biggest comparable Nathan MacKinnon didnt either. If all you have for Fantilli is a third line spot then he might as well go back to college. The guy goes in the top 6 and nowhere else.

I find it funny that this article was written in March by the athletic to help argue Michkov at 2. Even if Michkov is there better offensive player, I don't think the Ducks can afford to take him at 2 and wait for 3 years for the possibility that he comes over. What happens if they take him at 2 and you hit the possibility that he doesn't come over ever? I think with 2 you take Fantilli, a guy in North America that is for sure going to play in the NHL, not a guy that is signed in Russia and may come over in 3 years. I've seen some sites say they would not be shocked to see Michkov drop to round 2 because of this. Imagine then he drops to round 2 and the Ducks can pick him at 33. Do the Ducks really want to pass on a guy compared to Nathan McKinnon for the possibility of a guy compared to Nikita Kucherov might come to the NHL in 3 years. If it were me I would take the certain McKinnon comparrison.

Michkov is not the 2nd best talent in this draft. I've read that nowhere. What I have read is that Fantilli is closer to Bedard's level then anyone else in the draft including Michkov. Then 3-5 are close, then the next drop. Nobody has said Michkov is the next top prospect to Bedard.

If Verbeek trades this pick for anything less then Leon Draisaitl or Connor McDavid then Verbeek should be out the door with the pick. Fantilli is going to be a bigger star on this team then Zegras and McTavish or Terry. Only way Adam Fantilli shouldnt be a Duck is if the Hawks take him at 1.
