  1. I don’t know if this is accurate, but I saw someone mention that CBJ now only has 3.4m of cap space, and Laine is a RFA. If true, how will they sign him?
  2. Strange he decided to go with CBJ over NJ. It made sense for 7x12, but now closer to 7x10? Maybe NJ was closer to 7x8.5 or something. Bad look for Calgary though, he turned down a lot more money to go to CBJ lol.
  3. https://www.tsn.ca/video/dreger-edmonton-is-frustrated-by-how-little-interest-there-is-in-puljujarvi~2479999 If true I don’t know that Edmonton would trade him here if the return is low from everyone interested (assuming Verbeek even likes him). If Edmonton is worried he might blossom elsewhere, then might as well send him away out east for a low return than take one from a divisional opponent.
  4. Hvidston (5th round) is interesting. If he was born 4 days later he would have been draft eligible next year. Super young. He only put up 32 points in 58 games, but 21 of those points came in his last 27 games. If he develops more and has a big season next year he might have went a lot earlier if he was draft eligible next year.
  5. I’m ok with the Warren pick. It seems like there was more potential available there, but it wasn’t a reach either. The Luneau pick seems good. Many places had him going at the end of the 1st round. For the most part, Verbeek’s strategy meeting before the draft can be summarized by, “GET ME THE BIGGEST, STRONGEST YOU CAN FIND!” We’ll see how it goes.
  6. He’s also an overaged player; already 20 years old. I’m surprised Verbeek felt he had to take him in the 4th and not a bit later, but who knows.
  7. lol that Howard kid has some kind of confidence.
  8. I haven’t seen much from the analytics model guys. Hopefully there’s some interesting stuff from them for the guys still available. Otherwise I get the feeling our upcoming picks might be pretty boring. From the traditional scouting I don’t think there’s too many guys left with decent 1st round grades. From what I’ve seen anyway.
  9. Well I said Lambert/Howard would be gone before #42 but I expected it to be closer lol.
  10. I hope he busts just so you guys will be wrong and won’t post, “WHY DIDN’T WE DRAFT HIM!?” for years to come.
  11. Think Arizona should have gotten more for taking on all that cap.
  12. Assuming one/all are still there after the 1st round, I’d be thrilled with Howard/Firkus and fine with taking the swing on Lambert. I have a feeling all 3 will be gone before #42 though.
  13. I go B-. I didn’t want to go D at #10, but he was the one I wanted if we did. Not really a fan of #22 so that drops my grade down.
  14. lol Chicago really wanted 1st rounders in this draft.
  15. Going to be reallllllllll interesting to compare picks 22-24 in the future. The two guys after us have a much higher ceiling than the one we took.
  16. Not too thrilled with Gaucher. Sounds like a low ceiling/high floor guy, but likely won’t ever be more than a lesser bottom 6 player. I’m sure the Ducks feel differently so hopefully they are right and he blossoms into something better.
  17. Whoa. Bold pick from Washington. Russian getting over cancer. Good place to go for him.
  18. Well, there will be a player with multiple grades significantly better than #22 at our pick no matter what so that’s cool.
  19. Awww there goes Ohgren. Ah well, it wasn’t a strong hope he was still there.
  20. I think my top 3 I hope are still there are Ohgren, Snuggerud, and Howard.
  21. If Kemell is still available I’ll be legit mad if we pass on him lol. Only 5 picks away. Well… ok with that said the Ducks know better than me so I trust them over me, but damn he’s already fell a lot.
  22. Ostlund was one of the ones I was hoping could be available for us. Still a few out there though.
  23. I don’t think it’s that unlikely. Lot’s of talk about him being more of a late 1st rounder or early 2nd.
