  1. It’s pretty much standard operating procedure in sports leagues these days for guys accused of sexual assault to not play. Canucks sat him the moment it came out and didn’t play for the rest of the season.
  2. He’s currently facing a lawsuit for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman. I doubt any team is going to touch him until that’s resolved.
  3. I’d rather be smarter with our assets. Ducks don’t have to worry about the cap, so they might as well give him the QO if it’s between that or losing him for nothing. He could probably return a 3rd at the trade deadline even if he doesn’t improve much. Ducks just drafted a guy with a lot of potential in the 3rd round. Got a good looking player in the 5th.
  4. Yeah, his stock is way down but Columbus’ asking price would still be high. It makes way more sense for Columbus to hope he rebounds his value under a new coaching staff, and they might even want to keep him if he does. It also doesn’t make sense for teams to pay a premium for someone coming off such a down year. Bad timing for a Laine trade for all involved right now.
  5. https://mobile.twitter.com/AnaheimDucks/status/1419025124364144643 I absolutely love Pastujov’s attitude here. Look out league.
  6. On paper, the Ducks absolutely crushed day 2 of the draft: Zellweger: The analytics/model guys absolutely love this kid. I’ve seen him in the top 15 of the entire draft here. Traditional scouts love him too; he had 1st round grades at a number of places. One scout for FCHockey had him ranked 4th! There’s a lot to like about this kid. Pastujov: Everything I just said about Zellweger might as well be copy/pasted here. This could go down as one of the steals of the draft. I can’t believe the Ducks got him at #66. He had even more 1st round grades from traditional scouting outlets than Zellweger; Scott Wheeler of The Athletic had him at #14! The analytics/model guys love him too with many having him in the top 15. What a pick. Hinds: Nothing too sexy about him; could be a bit of a reach here. His offensive game came on when he got traded to Rimouski in the QMJHL. Perhaps the Ducks see some good potential in him. Lopina: Interesting pick. He’s already 20 years old and coming off his freshman season at UMass. He had a good season though with 23 points in 29 games. One to keep an eye on. Tschigerl: Welcome back to potential steal territory. This guy had a number of 2nd round grades, a couple 3rd round grades, and one 1st round grade going off Eliteprospects aggregated rankings. How did he make it to #130? He plays a complete game too. I really like the value here. Kukkonen: Here’s the swinging for the fences pick. Highly skilled, small-ish high school player out of Minnesota. Odds are low he makes it, but if he does it would be great. Overall, this was an amazing draft on paper. Let’s hope it pans out.
  7. Ohhhhh Kings trade up for Pinelli. Hope it doesn’t work out lol
  8. Not surprised we went D with our 2nd. Zellweger had 1st round grades from a few rankings. He had 8 points in 7 games for Canada in the U18 WJC. He’s an undersized defenseman so that kind of surprises me that Murray took him, but it looks like they like his skill.
  9. I hope Ducks take Francesco Pinelli if Buffalo doesn’t take him at #33. He had 11 points in 7 games in the U18 WJC for Canada.
  10. Still a number of guys with 1st round grades left, even mid-round grades. Ducks should get an interesting prospect at #34 if they keep it.
  11. Woooooooow Habs took Mailloux #31. Some teams weren’t going to draft him at all, and even many rankings list didn’t give him a 1st round grade to begin with. This is shocking.
  12. At least with Kaliyev the only reason he fell was there was the old-fashioned “character issues.” His shot in particular was highly rated. Raty seems to have question marks over his actual game.
  13. He’s an interesting player. Lots of skill, but he’s got huge bust potential too. I wouldn’t be surprised if Murray passed on him even if he’s there.
  14. The top 9 skaters all went top 9. There’s no guarantee McTavish would have been there even if they only dropped a few spots. NHL Central Scouting had him #2 ranked NA skater, McKenzie had him #4 (one scout in his rankings had him #2), etc.
  15. 1st off the board pick. McKenzie has Boucher #29. This is where ESPN fails for not having a rankings list always available. Probably going to see more of this since outside of the top 9 skaters it was wide open.
  16. It’s looking like Guenther/Eklund could both end up with Sharks/Kings. Man that could end up being some high stakes drafting. If those end up being 1st liners, and our guy is a 3rd liner...ouch. Could go the other way too.
  17. That Johnson pick could end up being great for CBJ. He’s been said to have the highest skill in the entire draft. Risky pick though.
  18. You can’t really call it falling. Picks #3-9 are pretty much all interchangeable.
  19. I’m good with McTavish. One NHL head scout in McKenzie’s rankings had him #2. He had a great U18 WJC for Canada.
  20. Feels like it’s taking too much time if Murray is keeping the pick.
  21. I’d be ok moving down a few spots if it meant a few assets coming in. Could still get a good forward at #5 or something.
  22. It’s crazy ESPN doesn’t have a rankings list on screen the whole time. They flashed some rankings graphic but it was uncredited so who knows where it came from. They should have just used TSN’s coverage like NBC always did.
  23. Yeah, if Murray keeps #3 that will be good (I’ll be a bit upset if he goes with Edvinsson too, and really any D). If Murray wants to trade 22 1st rounder lottery protected in a package for Eichel I could accept that if Zegras and Drysdale aren’t involved.
  24. Nah, it would have been like #3 #34 and something else. Not top prospects huge. I’m glad it didn’t happen though. Murray would definitely have taken Power.
