  1. It’s pretty damn impressive the amount of effort he puts into hockey, including all the money he pays out of pocket. Most of the stuff in that tweet isn’t him being a giant a**hole, it’s the good aspect of a captain holding his teammates accountable and living up to the standard he asks of everyone else. I could do without the screaming and perhaps other ways he might be a jerk. Getting the team to ditch the crap food and switch to better alternatives is a no-brainer and it makes you wonder why they were there in the 1st place.
  2. And Murray says, “nope enjoy your dumpster fire that just got gas poured all over it, but if you want this all to end we’ve got an offer on table for you.” lol I just love how one day after Adams tries to act all tough Eichel’s agents come out and put him back in his place. Get it done on the cheap Murray!
  3. Delauriers is a much better hockey player than Reaves (Reaves is that bad), so maybe this actually increases his value if another team thinks they need toughness. Maybe not 1st, but possibly a 2nd is more realistic now.
  4. Ryan Reaves to NYR for a 3rd. Glad to see that jackass out of the division, but looking forward to seeing what he does to Tom Wilson.
  5. I love Adams’ delusion. He’s been huffing and puffing a lot lately, first at the draft and now this. I remember Friedman’s comments at draft were basically like, “uhhh what?” It’s hilarious Buffalo thinks they are in control of this thing. Let’s see how long that lasts when training camp hits, Eichel’s still disgruntled, and still without surgery. Good luck. Buffalo’s been backed into a corner and all Murray (or another GM) has to do is keep waiting it out.
  6. That I don’t know to be true. Times ticking for Buffalo, and the longer this goes on and more teams look elsewhere, the more Buffalo will have to come off their asking price. I was adamant about not giving up #3 overall this year in an Eichel trade before the draft, and I’m certainly not doing it now. Buffalo can move on if they won’t do it without one of the 3 players you mentioned, and the Ducks can stick to their rebuilding plan as it currently exists. That’s fine with me. Either get Eichel at a discount, or stay the course.
  7. There was a pre-draft quote in the OC Register where Murray talked about having a presentation for ownership about the future of the franchise and it going well. I’m assuming Stephens’ quote is about the same thing. In OCR’s quote, Murray mentioned how the core of every Cup team is 85% drafted (I think that was the number he used, it was definitely in the 80s). If ownership is on board with waiting for that core to emerge, then I’m not sure how much improvement really matters. At least improvement in terms of wins/losses. Improvement might just mean seeing Zegras/Drysdale and maybe a couple young guys take another step.
  8. The longer it goes on the better it is for Anaheim (and whatever other team might try their hand). It’ll be a mess for Buffalo if he’s not traded when training camp opens. Hopefully Murray sticks to his guns and gets it done on a discount without Zegras/Drysdale. Someone mentioned McTavish in the trade, and that’s also crazy. dtsdlaw’s proposal is where I’d draw the line. I’d be pretty upset to lose Perreault because I think he’s going to be a good player, but if that gets it done for a protected 1st in 2022 then I’d begrudgingly accept. No way in hell I’d give them Perreault and an unprotected 1st among the other things in his deal. If Murray does that Eichel *bleeping* better be a top 10 player in the league for us.
  9. I don’t mind it either. The Ducks aren’t hurting for cap space. I’m sure if he was in Teemu’s shoes with the team actually being good he would have taken less to be on a winning team. I’m just saying that 4.5m is not a discount at all.
  10. Maybe in terms of being a 1 year deal, but 4.5 AAV for a 17 point center is not a hometown discount.
  11. Colorado just got their goalie from Arizona for a 1st and Conor Timmins. I wouldn’t have done that for Gibson. Colorado’s 1st is more of a high 2nd, and Timmins is a decent looking young defenseman, but not great.
  12. Most of these signings today are terrible. Kind of funny a lot of people seem to be freaking out. I think guys like Rakell and Manson look pretty good as trade pieces for teams who would have liked to improve but didn’t want to commit term/$ in free agency. I also think the Ducks are better positioned in an Eichel trade now that some teams rumored to be involved have taken on money. Perhaps they could always send money back to Buffalo and still be in it, but the Ducks are decently positioned. As far as Gibson, the Ducks are in no need to rush to make a trade. He’s got a ton of term and still in his prime. One concerning thing is he could get fed up after next season and ask for a trade which would hurt his value. Still, I wouldn’t trade him unless you’re getting something great back that also works with our timeline of maybe being good in 2-3 years.
  13. 5.5 for 6 is pretty yikes. If the Kings were closer to contention it would be ok, but they are really going to have to hope he ages well and doesn’t become a defensive specialist that puts up 35-40 points a season at 5.5 when they are ready to contend.
  14. You can make the argument that now is a great time to get Eichel because a lot of our shiny new toys look good but haven’t stepped into that top prospect range yet. If the Ducks hit on a bunch of their recent draft picks and all of the sudden they’ve got a bunch of great looking kids in 2 years, then the Ducks are losing some in a trade. Right now we might be able to get away with getting Eichel for $.50 on the dollar, so I’m open to that if it’s the case.
  15. I really think Eichel has more problems with the organization itself rather than just the losing part. I think it would take another 2-3 years of total crap after getting a new change of scenery for him to want out again. If the Ducks don’t sell the farm for Eichel, then I think they could be pretty good in a couple of years with him as long as Zegras, Drysdale, McTavish all become impact players, and one of Perreault/Pastujov hits. That’s assuming no one else in the system surprises too.
  16. Well that’s interesting. I came across his girlfriend at the time after a Ducks game in the Jack Daniels club, maybe around 06-08, and I could of sworn I remember people on here back then saying his gf was Canadian. Maybe they broke up, or maybe that was Paige and my memory is on the fritz.
  17. I definitely wouldn’t give up Perreault in an Eichel trade. Not only am I high on him, but he’s exactly the kind of player we need to play with our skilled centers. Him and Pastujov are the only players in our entire system that can snipe, and Pastujov just got drafted and hasn’t proved anything like Perreault has. It makes way more sense to give up a good center prospect in Groulx in an Eichel trade.
  18. I’m 99% sure Getzlaf’s wife is Canadian. I think he said something about how much she loves living in OC though. I see an Eichel trade as being more for the future than for next year, even if you could get Eichel for only one roster piece (let’s say Lundestrom). If Getzlaf is basing his decision on whether to return or not based on getting another top 6 forward somehow, then I’d say that’s pretty misguided. I don’t know, maybe he’s fine playing on a team that finishes 9th-14th rather than bottom 5.
  19. It’s possible Getzlaf just had a change of heart while thinking over these last few months that he doesn’t want to spend his final year or two playing going through a rebuild. If that’s the case I wouldn’t blame him or Murray. I also don’t think there’s been miscommunication where Getzlaf thought Murray was going to vastly improve the roster over the summer and that hasn’t happened. I think Murray’s been pretty clear in interviews this isn’t going to be a quick fix.
  20. Swap Perreault with Groulx and I’d probably do that.
  21. Ritchie not getting a QO is probably all about the cap. He actually had a decent season with the Bruins scoring 15 goals in 56 games. I’d think Boston would like to keep him at a lower number if they could.
  22. Now that #3 is off the table I’m more comfortable with an Eichel trade. If the Ducks really believe in Dostal I’d be fine using Gibson as the center piece in a trade. Buffalo did just get a goalie prospect back for Reinhart so they may not be interested in Gibson, and they might view him as a win now player and not one for the future. I do like the idea of selling high on Gibson if the team really believes in Dostal though. I love Gibson, but the truth is goalies often don’t bring a lot back in trades, so if you can maximize his value while still having a great piece in the pipeline I’d do it. I wouldn’t if the Ducks were contenders obviously, but with where the team is it would make a lot of sense. If Gibson can’t be part of an Eichel package, I’d still be fine perusing him under the right circumstances. Imagine if Murray could get him without giving up Zegras/Drysdale and if they were able to lottery protect their 1st round pick? I would hope Murray sets a price like that and tells Buffalo to try and do better and if they can’t then come back and make a deal.
  23. The day before the draft OC Register had a quote from Murray that the guy they take at #3 has got to be a core player and play within the top 6. The context was about needing to rebuild through the draft. I didn’t read see it until after the 1st round, but I thought it was interesting in retrospect because it seemed to out the Ducks going forward at that spot. I’m not going to read too much into the top 9 comment. For all I know he meant to say 6 but misspoke and said 9. It’s not like it would be a bad thing if he has ideas of building 3 lines with solid centers. It worked for Pittsburgh with Crosby, Malkin, and Staal.
  24. I think you’re focusing on the wrong aspect of this. It’s pretty simple, if a player gets accused of sexual assault these days, then the vast majority of the time, if not all the time, teams don’t allow the player to play. Nothing else matters, not due process, not what’s the public evidence, nothing. They don’t play until the situation resolves itself and a team feels comfortable having that player represent them (as is the case with the Habs 1st round draft pick). It’s pretty cut and dry.
  25. Completely different situation. He’s already at the end of his situation. He was fined by police in Sweden, and admitted to what he did. Nothing more can come from that situation. It’s resolved. What he admitted to doing isn’t a serious as what Virtanen is accused of doing, and even still, reportedly 12 NHL teams refused to draft him at all. Just look at the other leagues, it’s the same thing. Trevor Bauer is 100 times the player that Virtanen is, and he hasn’t played for the Dodgers since a women accused him of sexually assaulting her.
