Really do hope Mintyukov develops a better shot too. It’s fine if he develops into more of a Fowler type in terms of his offensive game, but I’d rather not see a lot of weak shots hitting shin pads from the point for another 10+ years lol

Really interested to see where Kemell goes. One scout in McKenzie’s rankings mentioned he could end up being the best player in the draft. Could be a steal. Others do question his hockey IQ though.

Right, but there’s no reason to come to the OHL if making money in Russia is #1. He’d just stay in Russia.

I don’t see how that makes sense. Why leave Russia for the OHL just to leave instead of playing in the AHL? I don’t think he’d ever come to the OHL if he was a risk.

If we’re lucky he’ll develop into a better goal scoring version of Tampa‘s Sergachev.

Very interesting. Don’t hate it. A bit worried about his defense and the fact that he’s a late birthday (turns 19 in November). He’s probably got the highest offensive upside of all D in the draft.

I have no idea who we’ll take but I’ll guess Nazar or Geekie. Kemell or Lekkerimaki would be cool too. Would be hilarious if we go off the board though.

Kasper wow. I’m surprised Detroit went with him. Scouts seriously wonder about his offensive potential. I thought Detroit would go for a higher ceiling. Who knows though, some scouts see his offensive potential.

lol stop. Beniers had a good 10 games but he’s got a lot to prove, and Wright’s stock has never been lower. They’ve got a long way to go.

Despite how this feels exciting, if Jiricek goes next then the top 5 in basically all mock drafts will have gone in the top 5. Only Wright slipping to 4 is the big difference.

Cooley over Wright. Very interesting. He’s definitely more skilled offensively than Wright. Probably has a higher ceiling but lower floor.

I don’t really like the idea of Cooley/Wright landing in Seattle. Will be interesting to see what happens. The rankings were all over the place so anything can happen, but I can’t see Wright getting past them. I could see them passing on Cooley.

lol that’s a great reaction. Montreal fans really wanted Wright. All year Wright’s stock was slipping from the beginning of the year when he was supposed to be an elite player to something less than. It’s a bit surprised Montreal didn’t go for the safer pick in Wright, but it’s not insanely shocking either.

You’d be talking a 1st somewhere between #20-32 instead of #7. That’s a very significant difference. I suppose it’s possible you could get an additional 2nd, but that’s late round as well. I don’t like it without him signing an extension.- 7,955 replies
