  1. Seemed like it but huberdeau needed an extension that would kick in at age 30 and Weeger at 29. Tkachuk’s extension kicked in last year when where he turned 25 in December. I’d rather the Ducks get a younger top-end player that can age better with the players we have coming up. I think that’s better for the Ducks long-term and even more so if they still aren’t good. It’s also a much harder trade to make because it’s rarely available. Calgary was coming off a great season before getting housed by Edmonton so I think they were happy to try and keep things rolling after MT and Guadreau left.
  2. Isn’t a trade like DuBois/Laine an anomaly? Seems like it’s rare for two young high-end players to get traded (though Winnipeg and Columbus seem like the cities that would happen to) for each other straight up. Jones/Johansen is the other one that I can recall. Are we hoping there’s another similar caliber player that we’d be able to get in a similar deal if Zegras wants out? That’s a pretty big gambit to take imo
  3. I’d love to know this too because most other teams got their RFAs signed without incident. The Ducks maybe able to afford to alienate Drysdale (he still needs to play well regardless) but I don’t see how they can afford to alienate Zegras. They are devoid of offensive firepower, particularly on the wing if that’s where they play him.
  4. Addison has higher offensive production than Drysdale (33 pts over 80 games vs 40 over 113 games). Drysdale has simply struggled on defensive end as well so I don’t think he’s commanding a lot more value from the Ducks than Addison other than the hype of being the 6th OA pick.
  5. So is Zegras back in CA? He posted this to IG yesterday
  6. It’s still pretty lame that’s it’s gotten to this point. Doesn’t inspire confidence in Verbeek or Solomon imo. What were they doing all summer after free agency?
  7. Agree. It was a brand of hockey that I hope gets adapted in SD and Anaheim. With Carlsson, he held serve and showed that Anze Kopitar style of play. Watching him just re-hammers the need to bring in at least one if not two actual finishers and scorers to play along side him him, Zegras and Terry in the near future.
  8. That's a tough one. I think he's going to be a casualty of being waivers exempt unless he really does well in training camp and preseason. I think the 13th forward will go to Leason or even Kassian. The Ducks would probably have NN start in SD first and get a lot of minutes to make his case for being called up.
  9. I don't know. That's what gets me. I didn't see any reporting of him being injured after Sarnia's season or getting hurt during summer training. No idea what he even injured
  10. I was more impressed with the style of play than anything. Winning puck battles, solid with breakout passes and forechecks. Outside of LaCombe and Carlsson, I don't see anyone else cracking the opening night roster but Zellweger would be my first call up on the blue line. Carlsson looked good overall, the only issue I saw is that he tried to use strength size to over power guys (when he didn't have the positioning to do so) and got the puck taken away or rubbed out of the play. Really looking forward to seeing him in preseason action
  11. Carlsson got hit up high pretty good. don't like that.
  12. Hope the Ducks provide an update soon on Pastujov and how serious his injury is.
  13. Dionicio with a bullet. He's a project but you can see a little something there
  14. Warren has been solid but got burned on a slow and go move there.
  15. Ducks are not getting pushed around. I love it
  16. Been waiting to see those mitts on Sidirov. Nice finish
  17. I think it’s a little too fair and would give them the higher of our three third round picks in 2024 instead. Taking on just under 9 mil over the next three years for a cap strapped team. I think I’d do the above deal though because I think we’ll get that 2nd back when Henrique gets moved
  18. Great sequence by Carlsson for his first goal
  19. Former ducks pick Tschigerl scores for LA. I hate typing thst Jaxson Wieve isn’t very good but he’s a gamer at least for fighting a much bigger guy. Ducks are very flat in the 2nd period
  20. Mintyukov and Zellweger 👍 in this game so far. Myatovic still 👎
  21. How would Montreal media be well in the know about something like this? You made the claim that Zegras is frustrated and specifically that the his frustrated with Verbeek. That would be a huge development. Can you provide those sources? I'm on Twitter and like to think I follow hockey pretty well, particularly the Ducks. I haven't seen any reports of this.
  22. Well that might set a record for fastest firing
  23. I hope zegras is a star that can consistently put up 70+ points. Superstars are very rare and I don’t see Zegras getting into that tier along with McDavid, Drasaitl, Matthews, MacKinnon, Pettersson, Kucherov, Pastrnak et al types.
  24. Exactly, can’t we just draft a player that’s a superstar from day one? Is that so hard to ask??
