  1. After the season he just had I’d be full court pressing to sign him. Not worried about it right now. I’ll get nervous if he’s not signed after camp though. The thought of losing Moore and Luneau would be horrible
  2. Carlsson, McTavish, Zellweger, mintyukov, Zegras et al are also going to need new contracts in the midst of a nylander extension. What the Ducks need more than nylander is to manage the cap with hopefully enough guys deserving to get paid. The cap structure of their future core isn’t in place yet except for Terry. Until that plays out more I don’t think the Ducks are paying the assets and contract for a guy like Nylander TBH, I doubt the Samuelis are opening up the checkbook right to that extent right now either.
  3. Yeah, but that wasn’t the Ducks pick, it was Minnesota’s from the Klingberg trade. I thought he was for sure going to move one of our three 2nd rounders this year and he didn’t. Imo he’s not willing to part with them yet
  4. It’s weird Luneau hasn’t signed but Warren has. I think he’ll sign after training camp. He’s a Verbeek pick and I doubt the Ducks aren’t going to sign him unless he refuses to play here
  5. I don’t think he’s coming here at all either, just responding to a theoretical trade and what Mike Rupp said, who we should all hate due to game 7 of the cup final in 2003.
  6. I wouldn’t give them that value right now with the extension. I don’t think you make these kind of moves unless you’re in a position to make the playoffs and do damage right away. If nylander was 2-3 years younger then I think it could be worth it. Imo the Ducks still aren’t close to justify that cost
  7. Pretty good projections. Only one I don’t see happening is Carlsson getting 15 but these should be the targets. The Ducks are going to need scoring from every where
  8. Just from a value perspective, that makes a lot of sense if he was on a cost controlled contract but he needs a new deal that is going to cost around 9 mil aav that will take him to age 35-36z So, the ask would need to be less and the 2024 first should be off the table imo. Verbeek has shown no interest in moving his own picks so I don’t think he’s risking those now with so much yet to be determined with a new coach in place.
  9. Yeah, That's a roster with bottom-5 potential still though.
  10. Good point. I’d be surprised if the Ducks only offer to drysdale was a take it or leave it with his QO. If so, I think he’d have signed it already. I think a 2-3 bridge would be on the table that would pay him more than his ELC cap hit. It’s ultimately on Drysdale to be that player and he’s got to take a noticeable step forward this season or else a 50k drop in salary this year will be a drop in the bucket of what he’d lose in future earnings. I think he signs for more than just his QO and gets a little more financial stability so that he’s not under immense pressure and uncertainty for one season.
  11. I don’t think they’ll offer him less. Right now, Drysdale has a lot to prove and no leverage. Best he can do is try for a two year deal instead of three so that he can get back to negotiating a long term contract a year earlier. Him missing camp due to a contract dispute would be a disaster and I can’t see that happening
  12. He’s not good and we’ll be lucky if he’s serviceable. I agree with Sexlaf that IL or whatever veteran we’d brought in is mainly to be stop gap while the younger defensemen develop in San Diego. I don’t hate the move in that context. Kind of a bummer for Helleson’s chances to make the roster. I think LaCombe has a better chance to beat out hagg. with Verbeek though, he might want Helleson and Lacombe down in SD to play with Zellweger, mintyukov and hinds at least for the start or until injuries pop up
  13. IL isn't that good and Drysdale is still a question mark. Helleson probably starts in SD and plays with more of the young guys. Hope he plays well enough to earn a call up. Where is that rumor coming from? If Verbeek is that far off on a long-term extension with Zegras then I will definitely start worrying about Zegras wanting out of Anaheim once his bridge deal expires. Verbeek's favorite pitch is obviously the low ball
  14. Lyubushkin is our pylon now! The Gulls defense is going to be fun to watch this season at least
  15. Got a RHD that we knew we needed. compliments of Klingberg https://x.com/anaheimducks/status/1692713930991284246?s=46&t=_KxXwe-XL6ooamouV3tV8w
  16. He better be far closer to Kopitar than DuBois. We’ll see this season if PLD has untapped scoring potential as a result of finally playing for a team that he actually wants to play for
  17. That was my take but given how the Ducks valued Terry heading into arbitration, I can’t rule out Verbeek lowballing Zegras now. If the first number of the offer is 7 then Zegras will be more than happy to bridge and then try to stick it to the Ducks the next go around.
  18. I think Ottawa and any team that has a player from the 2018 WJC team that could get popped probably knows it to some degree. The Tarasenko signing and bringing in kubalik seem in part to be insurance again Batherson being suspended for a long time. I didn’t know their cap situation was that bad and they still need to sign pinto. If Zegras wants 9 mil let alone 10 mil right now then he’s not getting that from any team imo. He’ll need to put up a point per game the next 2 seasons to command that long term. It’s why I think he’ll take a bridge deal so that he can get more on his long term extension. I don’t see a team offering Zegras anything that we wouldn’t match. Maybe if you’re getting into the 9’s is when you think about it and take the 2 firsts, a 2nd and a third. You’re going to pay out the nose in money and picks which I don’t see any GM having the nads to do.
  19. I don’t think Warren makes the team, let alone sticks in the NHL. He’s coming off major shoulder surgery and may not be 100% by training camp. Just because he has NHL size doesn’t mean he’s ready for the NHL, he’ll be returned to Victoriaville and be preparing to make Canada’s WJC team. As a 2nd round pick, I don’t think there was any doubt he’d be offered a contract either. It is interesting that he got one and Luneau hasn’t yet but I think Luneau signs after this training camp as well. Most players don’t jump from juniors straight to the NHL also, they usually spend time playing in the AHL, Liiga, SHL etc before the NHL because they aren’t ready.
  20. Me either. That’s a defense aiming for another top-5 pick
  21. Makes the most sense while also allowing the option of a Gibson trade. I do think that at least one of Helleson or LaCombe makes the Ducks roster out of camp. Giving Dostal more consistent minutes in the AHL to start compared to an NHL back up isn't a bad idea. Unless Dostal takes a major step back, he shouldn't be in San Diego for long.
  22. I don't think San Jose could have gotten that much more because of his age and more importantly his contract. I loved it when SJ extended Karlsson because the Sharks were already cooked for being a contender and on the downside imo. Like the Ducks, they should have started a rebuild sooner. The market was always going to be very small for Karlsson. San Jose will get more assets for Hoffman and Grunland within the next two trade deadlines, depending on how well they play. San Jose retained just 1.5 mil and did get a lot more cap flexibility that they can now use also. I agree about Montreal, not bad work to get a 2nd, Petry and DeSmith in the deal.
  23. I think they did ok on the trade. Even though he's the reigning Norris winner, he's also 33 and 11 mil aav contracts are extremely hard to move and also get great value for imo. San Jose is the clear front runner to finish dead last in the NHL next season imo
