  1. Yeah, I am not sure. Good for Arizona to get him for a year at that price to ultimately flip him at the TDL. I agree with g-dogg that Dumba overplayed his hand in free agency like Klingberg did last year. May have been the best offer that he got or he didn't feel that Anaheim could pump up his value after the Klingberg debacle. Looking at Arizona's roster with the moves they've made and they are still better than the Ducks imo. Kind of stings!
  2. Dumba is going back to college for a year. Signed with Arizona
  3. Yeah, he’ll be signed before camp which is still about 6 weeks away. Missing time due a contract issue with a new coach is bad for all involved. I thought around mid august would be the earliest he’d sign. If Verbeek pulls off a long term deal then I’ll be pleasantly surprised
  4. Tom Wilson’s agent deserves a lifetime achievement award for getting him 7 x 6.5.
  5. Aside from saying Zegras is likely to go to the wing (we’ll see how Zegras feels about that and handles it), it sounds like he’ll let the young defense develop in SD first, which I think is to be expected.
  6. yeah, there isn’t any winger depth organizationally in general. Defense and center look very strong but whiffing on Tracey and increasingly more likely Colangelo and Perreault really hurts.
  7. The numbers that both sides submit for arbitration maybe all we have to go on as far as how they value the player. Unless someone leaks what the team offered or what the player is asking. Each side has to have evidence for why they submitted their numbers. In Terry’s case, the big joke imo was the Ducks offer. Who lol???? I’m the opposite because I have no idea how the Ducks came up with 4.5 which I viewed as insultingly low, when even most of us on these boards knew that he was worth more than 2 million in aav than that. I might try to look up what the largest difference is between a team’s submitted arbitration number and what they settled on with the player. It just seems like an unusually high gap
  8. Who are the players that signed for 3-4 mil aav as RFAs with two 60 point seasons? Just looking up Killorn and Anderson, they didn’t even have 50 point seasons
  9. Barzal has played in 146 more games than Terry but has a .2 higher points per game average (.8 vs .6). This year he’ll start making over 2 million more than Terry despite not hitting 60 points in his last three years and never scoring 25 goals in a season. He had an 85 point season back in 2018 and hasn’t come remotely close to that and the islanders signed him likely thinking he would regain that form. He’s absolutely overpaid and if he doesn’t have a big year then the islanders should start to panic. For Terry you said we should expect a 35 g, 40a, player at a minimum to be worth 7 mil a year. If he does that then he’s exceeding his cap him in production. Guys that put those kind of numbers are around 8 mil aav. Fiala and Bratt make 7.8 for that kind of production and neither has multiple 30 goal seasons For Terry, It would be 10 plus points more than he’s averaged the last two seasons. His baseline should be 60 points imo
  10. If the comparables are just the midpoint and not supported by the number the sides give in arbitration then why not start at those to begin with? It would be a real weird argument for the Ducks to tell the arbiter that they put up 4.5 mil just because Terry asked for 8. You could have gotten to the same midpoint if Terry asked for 10 and the Ducks offered 2 which I think we’d then view both sides as insane in that case.
  11. Those are numbers that get you 8 mil aav. If Terry puts up 30 goals and 65 points then he’s exceeding his cap hit imo. Fiala put up 33g and 52a for one year and got 7.8 aav
  12. I went lazier than d-law and the first six players that come up when you just use Terry using the comparable contract tool are Boldy, Connor, Fiala, Bratt, Svechnikov and B. Tkachuk lol
  13. That’s why I’d love to know what metrics they used to get that number.
  14. So what players are coming off of back to back 60 point seasons and all star selections then signed or were awarded a 4.5 mil contract?
  15. Yeah, but you have to back that up with some semblance of evidence that the 4.5 number is not just being used for the sake of lowering the range to favor the team. If the arbiter asked Verbeek, what evidence and or comparable player contracts did you use to come up with 4.5 mil? What is he going to say? Can he just say I feel it in my loins that’s what he’s worth?
  16. I think the bolded isn’t true. Terry was much closer to the value than Verbeek was. As dtsdlaw asked, what are the 4.5 mil comps for a two time all star and 60+ point player? I agree that it should never have gotten to where arbitration numbers were exchanged. That’s bad form on Verbeek imo
  17. He could but he may also think he can secure it with the Ducks anyway or with another team if the Ducks won’t.
  18. I wish but I don’t think Zegras minds the drama and is actually fine with bringing it on lol. He’ll be set for life just on a bridge deal
  19. Agree and Zegras likely doesn’t care about other contracts that are due at the same time. That’s for Verbeek to figure out. He’ll be one if not the highest priority for the Ducks to sign still.
  20. Good work on saying a while back that Kyle Connor would be a pretty good comp for Terry. Troy boy got the same term and just 100k less. 👍🏻d-lawdamus.
  21. Lundestrom suffered an injury while training, sounds like he’ll be out for awhile
  22. You’re buying out UFA years but also years of likely decline. Unless you’re a true star player that can command both. Terry isn’t an 8 mil player because if he were then I think he would have set his arbitration number higher than that just negotiate down towards. He’d have to have a bonkers year to try and get that. If Terry wants to bet on himself and/or wants out of Anaheim then he’ll take the award and get traded accordingly
