  1. Usually as term goes up, it helps bring the aav down due to the security that being signed longer provides. He’d also receive most of his money early on in the contract depending on how they structure it. Don’t want to pay alot of cash during the waning, less productive years. He’d be 33 at the end of an 8-year contract if he signed it now I think not extending Terry long term completely sours him on the Ducks and he won’t re-sign here. They’ve made him suffer with terrible teams so for them to not show him the love would just mean his bags are packed for the inevitable. The Ducks aren’t exactly giving him a great supporting cast either this year and Henrique will get moved at some point. Hope Cronin is a true savant in that case.
  2. Sounds like Cronin will be just thrilled about the Ducks potential to score goals long-term if they don’t lock up Terry
  3. If you’re talking about what the arbiter will award Terry then yeah I think it’s going to be around 6.25 - 6.5 give or take. The issue is signing Terry long-term which will be more than that. If they don’t get an extension in place and the arbiter has to decide then I’m pretty sure we can start saying our farewells to Terry
  4. I think people are worried because the Ducks offer was way more absurd on the low side than Terry’s was high. You can absolutely hang that on Verbeek and if it causes Terry to not sign Long-term. It also will look way worse when he just overpaid in money and term for Killorn who is 7 years older. If no long term deal is reached before arbitration the Terry will traded by next summer because why would he re-sign here? He’ll get the money, term and a better chance to win somewhere else. Verbeek then gets to explain and deal a major setback in the rebuild and making the playoffs. Terry leaving would hurt the Ducks way more than it hurts him imo
  5. If the Ducks don’t think he’s worth it to pay him right now then I’m sure he’ll be smiling on his way out of town within two years. Terry doesn’t need to prove anything more to the Ducks imo. If they don’t value him then their rebuild takes a considerable detour. Combine that with a Gibson trade and the suffering of this team won’t be close to over imo
  6. There’s bad and there’s when you hulk smash through the subterranean basement that was the Ducks under Dallas Eakins imo. I also don’t view LA, Minnesota, Dallas as bad teams either. Martin St. Louis arrived in Montreal and change the culture of the team around by all accounts and DeBrincat took less money so he could go play where he wanted.
  7. It’s just so unnecessary set the arbitration value so low and likely tick off a player that the Ducks can’t afford to lose if they want to be noticeably better this year. The Ducks need Terry more than he needs them going forward.
  8. But as people noted, there’s no chance that Terry signs a long term deal at $6.25. Killorn got that and Terry is going to command more if the Ducks want to keep him.
  9. Agreed, he’s worth more than Killorn. I was using him as the reference point for low ball offers and Verbeek just completely out limbo’d it
  10. He’s also been on the worst team in the NHL over the last two seasons which I’m sure his agent has hammered home. It’s really a bad look for the Ducks to low ball him after they gave him the worst supporting cast. I think that range is where he falls especially if he’s going to be a leader going forward. I’d definitely pay him that
  11. I Don’t blame him for asking for that. He knows he’s not getting it but you set your bar as high as possible. Standard negotiating stuff. If he turned down a 7x7 deal then I think we look at him being unreasonable or betting on himself to get closer to 8 I think it’s one or the other and that a Verbeek team wouldn’t ice them both. Drysdale doesn’t have the benefit of being the only good defensive prospect in the system anymore and zellweger is the guy who may come for his role on the team.
  12. I think the point is Terry’s number is less off than the Ducks. The Ducks offer would roughy 2.5 mil less than what he’s likely to get where terry’s is around 1 mil
  13. Yeah, Terry isn’t an 8 mil per year player and would land in the range where I think most of us have projected him in the 6.9 -7.1 range. If Terry feels that he can be an 8 mil player and bet on himself then it will likely be with another team.
  14. The bolded is why I think Drysdale or Zellweger won’t be long-term ducks but never thought it would be an issue for Terry. The idea of him getting 8 mil aav was always far fetched and that he’d fall in high 6’s low 7’s is most likely. The Ducks not paying him that is beyond stupid
  15. That’s a “Terry Won’t Be a Long-term Duck” offer. Just insulting
  16. I think it’s both but either one by itself would be enough for players to pause on wanting to be here long-term. Eakins being gone doesn’t mean that guys want to play for Cronin. Plus, we don’t have enough proven high end NHL guys yet with our prospects. Hope that noticeably changes after this season.
  17. Just in case we forget this when wondering why impact players may not want to come to Anaheim right now.
  18. I don't think Tarasenko takes that deal, especially from the Ducks. If he has good year in Ottawa then he stands to make more than that next summer. He took a "betting on myself" deal which Ottawa is in much better shape to help him increase his value than we are.
  19. Tarasenko signed with Ottawa so scratch him off your lists accordingly
  20. You can’t stop other teams from calling you but if the Bruins called about Zegras or McTavish then it was probably a very short call with Verbeek audibly chuckling.
  21. Looks like some wet dream fan fiction from a source that I doubt many have ever heard of. It’s too stupid to even entertain. I can make rumors too: The Ducks have inquired about Cale Makar. Could he be on the move??
  22. Agree, look at the contract DuBois just signed who Zegras has outscored the last two seasons
  23. Christopher Nolan couldn’t have written it better
  24. Maybe but they should have already shifted him to the wing so that they can make that case in contract negotiations. No faster way to p*** Zegras off than suddenly say he should be paid for a less premium position that he hasn’t predominantly played
